STATISTICS.

The Government of Macuo is so anxious to see expansion in Macio's trade that the merchants baliers that they can now count upon the Government's-support of many measures which requiro reform. First and foremost, the merchants are desirous of seeing statistics of imports and exports as well as of the volume of busi- sess in each industry of Micao, ao that," with figures of the relative positions of each line, they may be able to use their judgment as to which business may be engaged in with hopes of sureiss.

PROTECTION WANTED FOR RETAILERS, Retail merchants in Macao enjoy very little protection and have littl, legal red- ross for delinquent debtors. Government's, attention is called to this matter. It is felt that the old law relating to business is no longer applicable to modern comercial methods and the Macao Government would do well to give, it's attention to this subject and appoint a Commission of inquiry comprising the Colony's principal lawyers and merchant- to investigate the Mneno. Ordinances relating to business.
