The festival took place at the Holborn Restaurant, and was in the form of a. dinner, concert, and dance The presi dent of the council, Mr.T. G. Bergin, LR presided. Mr. F. H. Searle, P.A.G.P. Scientists have not you succeeded in clearly explaining what "vitamins" are, but they agree that there are threo vitamins, which are present in minute quantities in many kinds of food. They are mysterious substances which lead foods their dife-giving value. Without them the foods are said to be valueless. Tho thres known vitainias are labelled A, B, and C.
The two California experimentalists fed rats on a diet containing a limited amount of vitamin A, plenty of vitamin B. and no vitamin C. The rats, on this diet, grew and developed normally, but did not reproduce. The doctor's then added lettuce leaves or dried alfalfa grass to the diet. The effect, was a sud. den restoration to fertility. The same effect was produced by excess of butter, but not by cod-liver gil" or "by, úrnage. juice
