Following дл Announcement from Meriel of the withdrawal of the revolt- tionary government, the Conference of Ambassadors has decided to award Lithuania sovereignty over Memel, on certain conditions regarding sea and river transport,nia order to protect Lithuanian and Polish interests.

LONDON, February 18th. Armed bands have reappeared at Memel, which the Conference of Ambas sadors should formally have handed over to Lithuania to-day. The new" develop ment may necessitate a change of plan, because I is felt the Lithuanian Govern ment cannot dissociate itself from тел ponsibility: Authoritative circles in London are naxioudy watching the situa tion at Vilna, which, with the adjacent territory, will be handed over to Poland to-day, under the League of Nations award, as the Lithuanians have nounced their intention of opposing the Polish occupation.

It ia reported from Norfolk, Virginia, that the destroyer. Farquhar was rammed by a battleship during battle practice of Panama. She is reported to be under convoy in a sinking condition. ARMOUR'S PACKING PLANT ON FIRE.

Oyala, February 16th. Fire started yesterday in the Armour packing plant and is still burning. Three niue-storey buildings have already beca destroyed.
