The City and South London Tube ex tension will give quick railway facilities to Balbaw, footing, Merton, and other thickly populated suburbs in South-West London, which are now mainly dependent on tramway-cars and omnibuses. When the scheme is finished it will be possible to run a train from Edgware to Sutton vid Golder's. Green, Camden Town Euston, an Clapham Common. The junction at Waterloo linking up the Hampstead and Bakerloo lines means that if necessary trains can be diverted from one railway to the other at busy periods.

A big station has also been planned at. Waterloo for dealing with "rush hoar" crowds without congestion. It will have many entrances and exits and a number of escalators leading to the South-Western Station and the street.
