With the arrival of the s.s. President Jefferson in port on Wednesday, a party of police, led by Sergeant Fallon and Sergeant Kellett, conducted a search for arms on board the vessel. So sure were the Police that the arms were aboard that they went to the trouble of moving many tons of coals in the bunkers. Underneath one of the bunkere were discovered 18 Winchester rifles and 8,000 rounds of ammunition. The arms and ammunition were removed to the Central Station. No arrests have been made.
