"CHRISTMAS IN HONGKONG.
HOW IT WAS OBSERVED. Hongkong celebrated Christmas quietly, but nevertheless enjoyably. The warm unshine was not unwelcome though it trespassed on the Home, tradition of Christmas. It was a happy coincidence that the mail from Home should arrive on Christmas Eve, bearing messages of comfort and good cheer, to say nothing of Christmas presents, from friends and relatives in the Old Country.
The shops in the weeks preceding Christmas had been well stocked with toys and Christmas presents and evidently a larga Christmas business was done.
