Armenia is now left to her tragic fate, and I am accused of charging the" Governrneat with making an effort to rescue the Christian populations. I charged " the Government with not having made an effort to rescue the Christian populations, and I challenge the Prime Minister to make good bis words. But he won't. "Tears pass" and he never does,"

That, Lord Gladstone said, was the first point which brought upon him this olympić wrath. Mr. Lloyd George spoke, in lurid; terms of the menace to Europe of the Christian populations of Thrace owing to the position of the Kemalist armies. If that was true--and nowadays they required soine corroboration of, "what the Prime Minister said the Government must have known it months ago. There was nothing new in the situation. The Kemalist armies were pressing the Greeks into the 'sear Was it only the Greek armies that stood between us and that terrible menace? If so why did the Government tell us what the situation was "and why not have måde preparations earlier? Why did the Govern ment shut their eyes and do nothing until the Greeks were in trouble-the one Power apparently that stood between us and | disaster? If they knew the conditions they ought to have taken action, and if they did not know they were a useless Government.

PREXIBE AND 'A REUNION.

Lord Gladstone explained the attempts mide by Mr. Lloyd George to secure a reunited Liberal Party. The Prime Minister wanted the independent Liberals to join up with Coalition Liberals on equal terms, and the reply was that the Liberals were not prepared to forego their Liberal, principles.

"The Kaiser of Downing Street is too intolerant of criticism and attack. He complains that we will not give him peace. He is the Liberal politician who, to secure his own personal ascendancy, transposed a great Liberal majority, during the operation of the coupon, into a far greater Conserv ative majority. He is the man who stabbed the Liberal Party in "the back-(cheers)- and so I ask, had Zimri peace who slow, his master? (Cheers.)
