ALLEGED SHOPLIFTING.

SOLDIER CHARGED. WITH THEFT.

A Private of the King's (Liverpool) Regiment, named Albert Bird was charg ed before Mr. J. R. Wood, yesterday morning, with the theft of a gold ring from a Japanese Jewellery and Ivory shop, at No. 27, Praya East, and, with saulting one of the assistants of the shop.

The accused pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Serious charges of forgery were laid against a Chinese bask clerk formerly in the employ of the Bank of Canton, of the Magistracy, yesterday afternoon.
