HE throat is usually the first spot to feel the avil effect of any sharp change in the wasther. That tickling sensation at the back of the mouth," that slight hoarseness when speaking, that diß- eulty in swallowing, are all symptoms of sore throat, and unless these symptomi, are promptly got rid of by a cons of Paps treatment, the krooble will gradually work its way through the breathing passages right down to the lungs.
Avert this danger by breathing in the medi- cinal fumes that come from Pepe tableta sa they dissolve on the tongue. A soothing and com- forting sensation is felt as these Peps fumes circulate through the nostrila and mouth straight in the danger spot

THE STILLMAN DIVORCE SUIT.
After a bitter fight lasting more than two years, andl attracting international attention, Mr. Fiff Potter Stillman on Sept. 29th won a weeping victory over her hus band, Mr. James A. Stillman, a former pre- sident of the National City Bank of New for divorce was York, when his application f refused by Referee Gleason, and the legiti macy of the baby Guy affirmed. Mrs. Stillman was also absolved of the charge of misconduct with Fred. Beauvais, the Indian guide Despatches from Carmel, New York, where the decision has been filed for Acceptance or rejection- the Supreme Court, add that the "netusa
the tions of illegal conduct between banker and a New York actress are substantiated by the decision, which finds that Stillman had maintained Mr. Florence Leeds as his wife, and had two children by har. Referee Gleason declares that the testimony offered by Mr. Stillman in support of the allegations of his wife's misconduct with Beauvais appeared at first to be plausible and uncontradicted, but careful examination of the testimony has shaken his faith and belief in the testimony of the witnesses called on the plaintiff behalf. It is catirely probably that Mr. Stillman will appeal from the decision. The recognition of the busby Guy as the son of Mr. Stillmann, and not, as alleged,
child the son of Bexuvi's, entitles tho share of one-fourth of the 81,200,000 trust fund left by the late Mr. James Stillman, father the plaintiff. The suit for divorce was begun on July 18th, 1990, and continu- ed in this country and Canada until 7,000 pages of evidence had been piled up. The chief quetion involved was the paternity uf Mrs. Stilins's Ban Guy.

One of the most sensational fexures of the case was the introduction by Mr. Stiliran of four lettos alleged to have been written by Mrs. Stillman to Beauvais and so'd by him for £3,00. The guido dorix the charge. Last
January Mrs. Stillmon went to Canada and braved a blizzard temperature of 40 deg. St below zero in a trip through the Maurice River Valley to secure witnesses who testified that the relations between her and Beavals were simply those of employer and servant, and that they had heard of heavy bribes being offered for testimony supporting the charges of mis conduct against Mrs. Stillman. It is es timated that Mr. Stillman has spent more than £100,000 in the divorce litigation.
"SEXASPERATION.!"
"Are flappers immoral!" asks a clergy- man from Lincoln. We are sick to exasperation of these cternal sex conun- drums (says the Daily Express). We venture to think the public shares our peculiarity. Short skirts do not, and never did, make short morals, Bor are cigarettes in the mouth of woran smoke barrage for vice. We buvo woo, in relation to life, an inestimable asset that our grandfathers scarcely knew by name. It is called Candour.
The transition from the false- closeted ingenuousness that masqueraded |
Victorian virtue has certainly been The war has its efected over-rapidly. share of blame. We are convinced, how- over, that parents are awake to the danger, und are capable of coping with it, without a brass band of vapid comment being blared from stage and palpit. Let us end this per- petual gibbering and eating about sex. The more we talk about it, the more we play into the hands of those who make capital out of it. The more capital that can be made from it, the more plays and novels will be produced concerning it. To the detriment of the morals of the fapper.

GIEL SWIMMER BITTEN TO DEATH.
The fashionable seaside resorts of Flori- da were much agitated by the tragic death of Dorothy McClatchie, an 18-year old girl, who was killed while pa a long- distance swim by a giant barracuda, known to fisherthen as the tiger of the sea:?* Miss McClatchie, the champion swimmer of the States, started with a friend, Mary. Buhnery, on a practice swim to a buoy half a mile from the shore. After rounding the buoy Miss Bahnery was startled by the sudden disappearance of her companion, who came to the surface, a moment later, I've been bitten. I think my gasping. foot is gone.". The water was stained with blood. Miss Buhnery swam to the injured girl and caught her by the shoulders. Kisa me, Mary, I'm dying," were the only words Miss McClatchi uttered. Miss Bub nery raised herself in the water and made signals with her bathing cap to boatmen half a mile away. When belp arrived the gallant girl was supporting the dead body of her friend, who find suffered a score of wounds from a ferocious barracuda There ware two gashes 14 inches long, and ono of them had severed so artery of the left leg.
