LABOUR VALUES OF THE SEXES.
Professor Edgworth, in his presidential address to the Economic Section of the British Association declared that equal pay for equal work for men and women engaged in the same work was unfair to men, thus challenging the opinion of the Trade Unionists which was expressed at a Trade Union Congress at Southport, which, with- out discussion, affirmed the principle of equal pay for men and women.
Professor Edgworth said that the bulk of the men supported families, while the balk of the women did not do so; hence it was not unreasonable that men should have an advantage in the labour market. He advoted that inen forming the Asso ciation should contribute to & fund which should be distributed among the wives of members, and declared that bachelors shoul support the fand whereby they right one day benefit.
