YESTERDAY'S MATCH.

M. W. Lo, who defeated S. A. Rum- jahn on Wednesday by three sets to two in the third round of the Open Cham. plonship Singles met O. Rumjahr, a brother of S.A.," in the semi-final of the same competition yesterday. The match aroused a great deal of interest, and before the commencement of play the speculations were al in favour of Lo. On previous match ton, O. PRIZE DISTRIBUTION.

A very pleasing ceremony took place at the Victoria Recreation Club yesterday afternoon when the cups and prizes wan, during the past season' and at the recent Victoria Regatta were presented by Mrs. Claud Severn to the winners in the pro- sence of a number of members and their friends. Afternoon ten was served in the dance-room, where the numerous trophies were placed on exhibition and were much admired. Amongst those present were the Chief Justice (Sir William Rees Davies), the Hon. Mr. Claud Severn and Mrs. Severn.

At the conclusion of the prize presenta tion, the Hon. Mr. Claud Severn, thanked the Committes for asking Mrs. Severn to present the cups and prizei won during the Regatta. It had given Mrs. Severn great pleasure to do so. They had a very äne Regntia, especially on the Monday. The races were excellent and he was glad to say that the race for the Chairman's Challenge Cup was one of the best of the Regatta te then thanked E. Sir Reginald Stubbs, H.E. Sir John Fowler, Sir Paul Chater, Sir Robert Ho Tung, the Lusitano Chub, the Hongkong Stock Ex- change, the Chinese Chamber of Com- uvres, the Hon. Mr. Lau Chu Pak, Mr. D. Blair, Mr. Smyth, Mr. James Smith and Mr. G. Tiran for prize dona- ticas. Their best thanks were also due to Mr. R. M. Dyer for, the loan of the launch, both during the rowing season for Scratch Regattas and also for the Victoria

Be also wished to thank Mr. Regatta. Belilice for placing his magnificent yacht the Dwyen Wen at the disposal of the committen(Applause.) She formed an excellent flag ship and thoan who boarded. her were right royally received. Thanks was also due to Capt. Rice and bis..crow for their assistance throughout the re- gatta. Amongst others who deserved their thanks was Mr. D. K. Blair who managed all the sailing events with auch great success. Referring to Mr. Witchell, the hon. seretary of the Club, the speaker paid a special tribute of thanks. The time, at his disposal, he said, was too short to enumerate all that Mr. Witchell had done for the Club. Mr. Witchell was due to go home shortly and the Club would have to carry-on during his absence.

In conclusion the speaker said they had a moat successful season both in and on the water. He hoped the next season would be equally successful. (Cheers.)
