"

That the effect of the Sex Disquali fication. (Removal) Act, 1910, was to re- move such disqualification, and that upon the passing of the said Act the said, Vis countess Rhondda became entitled to re- ceive a writ of summons to Parliament.
B. That it is desirable that this House should harably beseech his Majesty that a writ of summons to Parliament may be seat to the Viscountess Rhondda.

FATE OF WOMEN POLICE.
In the House of Commons on March 7th, Mr. Shortt, "replying to Lord H. Cavendish-Bentinck, said he regretted that be did not see his way to depart from his decision to carry out the recomenda- tion of the Geddes Committee to disband the women patrols division of the Metro- politan Police. The present cost of the patrols was about £27,000 per annum. There would be no charge for pensione.
Replying to Capt. Wedgwood Benn, Mr. Shortt said that the Geddes Committee consulted the Commissioner of Police and himself with regard to the work of the women patrols, and no witnesses from the force were called. The test was not as tö the efficiency and usefulness of the women palice, but whether the work was of such aanture that it ought to be maintained at the expense of the State at a time of financial stringency.
Capt. Wedgwood Benn asked whether' the committee was in a position to come to a fair decision when the Home Secre tary would cut permit members of the women patrol to give evidence.
..
Mr. Shartt replied that there was no ground for saying that he would not per- mit members of the women patrol to give evidence. He never said that the com- mittee asked permission. to consult some body else.
