CLOSING CRUISE AND REGATTA.

The Royal Hongkong Yacht Club beld its closing cruise and regatta at Repulse Bay, on Saturday afternoon. Dolightl weather favoured the occasion and the members and their friends had a thorough- ly enjoyable time.

A large wumber of the yachta dressed for the occasion, were assembled in the bay and the whole scene was picturesque." During the afternoon, the King's Regi- mental band, stationed on the slope be tween the foreshore and the hotel, rendes ed delightful music, which was alternated by the Filipino band at the hotel, where atea dзasant was being held at the same timo.

An unusually long string of motor vehicles parked on the road outside told ita own tale, and the ball room, verandahs and lounge of the hotel presented a very busy scene. During the afternoon His Excel- lency the Governor (Six Reginald E. Stubbs, EC.M.G.) accompanied by his private secretary (Mr. Eric Rice) visited the hotel and watched some of the events in the regatta.

Ignatieff, in carrying off the R.H.KY.C. Challenge Cup. They were also much indebted to those ladies and gentlemen who had come to see the regatta. There only remained the pre- sentation of the prizes which had been gained during the season 1971 to 1992 and that afternoon. They were fortunate in get. ting Mrs. Smyth to present the prizes and he had much pleasure in now saking her to do so.

Mra Smyth then distributed the prizes. Mr. LOWE, in proposing a

vote ol thanks to Mra. Smyth, pointed out how much the Commodore and Mrs. Smyth had done for the Club during their long connection with it. Its mem- were indebted to their Comme dore for the way in which the Club had practically risen from nothing to its pre- sent status. On behalf of the members of the Club he presented to Mrs. Smyth a package, the contents of which he would not divulge, and to the Commodore, a handsome cabinet containing decanter and a silver flask.
