STANDARD UNIFORM FORÅ
OR OFFICERS.
Details appear in The London Gazette of the new standard uniform for officers, wireless operators, cadets, and appren tices and others of the Mercantile Marine. The order provides that where on September 4th, 1018, the masters and officers of the ships belonging to any com- pany or firm were accustomed to use a cap with a distinctive badge, that badge may if the company or firm so desire, be substituted for the badge prescribed in the order. No person entitled to wear the uniform, the order further states, shall, when on board ship, in port, or on board ship, in port, or on shore be dressed partly in uaïform and partly not in uniform. The Mercantile Marine Uniform Order, 1818, is revoked.
