PARIS FASHION NOTES.

[FROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT, ISABEL"RAMBAY. }

PARIS, September 19th.

A return to Paris and is "boulevards reveals the fact that the tailor-made has undergone a considerable change during the all-too-short weeks that constitute a continental Summer.

The most notable and important in ture about it is that its line is far more inclined to bo straight than it was a month or two ago. Instead of being a garment of many gores, tightening in to the waist so as to suggest the form of an hour-glass, the coat now being worn is more an up-an-down affair, Atting close to the figure without exactly defining its lines. The change is slight, and yet so distinctive that the cleverest tailor (who, no doubt, for his own ends, saw thas fashion developed along these lines) would not be able to transform a coat that was fashionable two months ago into a coat that would be fashionable now,

With the coat showing long straight lines have come into pronounced_favour! coats, jacket und blouses that are Russian in type. A pretty suit of this kind which I saw in navy duvetyn, and the cuffs and collar were edged with seal, the edge of the right flap buttoning over being edged with the same fur continued down from the collar; this fastened high round the neck with a cut jet button.

Instead of fur as a finish, to outline the collar, cuffs and side flap of the cost, such less expensive trimming as braid may be used. Another effective and inex pensive method is to take bands of material in another colour-and-neld-

having. cut them, after

them on the cross. Navy blue trimmed this way with bands in grey, beige or fawn is most becoming. Bands of grey lamb's wool may also be used this way, and the same note be repeated in a close-fitting litle cap to be worn with this particular costume, not to mention a muff as well, if one's allowance permits. Varnished ribbon is also used, but not to the ex aggerated extent it has been since it made its appearance in the fashion world a few months ago.

The very latest idea is to trim one's suit with bands-of-Petersham-belting- just the ordinary strips of material which, so far, have served the humble though useful purpose of keeping a skirt together and attaching it to its wearer. This original fabric is treated in exactly the same way as bands of cloth or strips of ribbon or braid would be. All of theses may be utilised by those who cannot Shanghai afford to trim their suits with fur, at

present the most fashionable of all.

Through Bills of Lading issued to all Overland common Polute in U.S.A. and Canada.

Grey is still popular, although a far: greater percentage of navy suits are to be accu. With suits of this shale the ideal trimming is either bands of squirrel or grey lamb's wool.
