The RLS. Empress of Russia arrived at Yokohama on October 20th, left there October 22nd, at noon, and is due at Vau couver on October 31st.
The T.K.K.4.s. Siberin Maru arrived at Yokohama on the 22nd instant, and Bails 26th instant, being due at Hong- kong November 6th,
The N.Y.K. Iyo Hume (European line) left Shanghai for this port on Octo- ber 23rd, and is expcced here on October 20th, and will sail for Europe vid Singa pore on October 27th, at 11 a.m.
The N.Y.K. 5.3. Kaga Mars (Euro pean line) left Singapore for this port on October 22nd, and is expected here on October 27th, and will sail for Japan vid Shanghai on October 28th, at 11 a-m. The E & A Co.'s 8.8. St. Albans left
Manila for this port on the 3rd instant, at daylight with the outward Australian mails, and is due here on the 25th inst,

SHIPPING NOTES.
A collision occurred in Yokohama har- bour between the 0.8.K.S. Amur Maru and the NY.K.8. Kashima Maru on October 11th, when the Kashima Maru was docking at Pier 9 According to the Japan Times as a result of the collision, the Amur Maru had her starn dented in and the docking bridge carried away. No damngo was sustained by the Kashima. The Amur Maru, which was leaving for San Francisco with 7,500 tons of general cargo, has been delayed in order to undergo a survey and repairs.

The conversion of the Mauretanis to oil-burning will make a total of six vessels using oil fuel in the combined fleet of the Cunard-Anchor Lines with an aggregate total of 137,000 tona All the new feet of eighteen vessels ordered since Armistice Day will also be oil fueled. As a coal burner the Mauretania holds the blue ribbon of the Atlantic having made the fastest westward pass- age in four days ten hours and forty- De minutes and the fastest eastward pasange in four days thirteen hours and forty-one minutes. Her highest day's run stands at 678 knots and her best average speed for one day is .04 knots. When the Aquilania was recently con- verted to an oil-burner, her speed aver
was materially increased. age Mauretania is a quardruple screw bine steamshop with a length of 790 feet, a breadth of 84 feet and a gross tonnage of 30,701. She is being converted into an oil-burner at the yarda of Swan, Hunter and Wigham Richardson, Ltd.. Newcastic, her original builders, and will re-enter the New York-Cherbourg- Southampton service on January 14th
next.

The Pacific Mail Co.'s 8.8. Empire State with a special Chamber of Com- merce party arrived at Yokohama Octo- ber 18th and sailed on October 21st for Kabe. During their three days' stay at Yokohama the members of the Chamber of Commerce party visited Tokio and or her points of interest in the vicinity
The 8.8. Empire State is due to arrive at Kohe on October 22nd and will also remain at that port three days so as to to visit points of interest within the rail enable the Chamber of Commerce party distance of this city.
