Mr. Jon William Buchanan-Jardine who came of age on March 7th, is the heir to the Baronetcy, of Castlemilk Lockerbie, Dumfriesshire. The Baronetcy was conferred in 1583 upon Mr. Robert Jardine, head of the frm of Jardine, Matheson Co., merchants in China, who sat in the House of Commons for 21 years. The first Baronet married Mar- garet Beton, eldest daughter of the Tate John

of Leny, Buchanan-Hamilton Perthshire.

The bride's father, Lord Ernest Hamil ton, is the youngest son of the late Duke of, Abercorn, and is the uncle of the pre- sent Duke. Lady Ernest Hamilton is Pamela daughter of Captain Frederick Campbell, of a family claiming to be cadets of the house of Breadalbane,

LABOUR SITUATION IN JAPAN
