Zam-Buk for soothing pain and drawing disease and poison from the skin. In fact, wherever there is a cat, burn, or scald, a festering sore, patch of eczema or ringworm, a rheumaticky joint, surs hands, or a case of piles, the proper and regülar use of Zam-Buk will end the trouble once and for all.

It is really astonishing how swiftly and surely pain is banished and new healthy skin grown by this magic

EDUCATION IN HONGKONG, EXTRACTS FROM THE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE DIRECTOR.

After deducting the school fees re- caived, the total tett expenditure on education was 9444.130.03 (8254.302 in 1910). The increase is mainly due to higher rates of salary. An additional sum of $90.000 was voted for Capitation Grants owing to more schools being in- cluded in the Grant Scheme. And dur ing the year the Grants to English schools, which had not been revised since the war, were increased, absorbing $21,030 additional. $20,500 above the Estimates of 1910 was voted for and spent upon Vernacular Education.

School and Technical Institute fees

amounting to 8103,030 were collected

(#103.503 in 1919).

In addition $4,781 fees. were remitted to free scholars (4.18 in 1919).

The estimated British Staff was men and women. At the close of the year it was 5 men and 16 women short. This shortage has been remedied to some extent by the employment of temporary women teachers, of whom several have Tairly good qualifications. Others have none at all: such teachers become after a few months of some value, but they need much supervision, and they can not take big Classes unaideti. The short age was increased by the necessity of coming to the assistance of the Univer sity as explained under that heading
