agreement or arrangement has been made with the Shipping Department of the United States of America whereby Ameri can ships may be permitted to trade on British lines to the Far East,

Secretary, in a written reply, stated

Sir Philin Tord-Creme, Parliamentary No such agreement or arrangement has been made so far as I am aware. ACCIDENT TO THE S.S. "SUNNING."

The China Navigation Co.'s steamer Sund when entering the barbour about three o'clock yesterday morning struck the rocks near Cape d'Aguilar. There were about 900 Chinese passengers- from Shanghai on board, and though the ship was going slow at the time the force of the iminnet was sufficient to wake them from their lumbers, and, for the moment there was great excitement as they were, being provided with life-belts. The ship. which was lightly laden, did not get fast on the rocks and she was able to proceed and anchor near Taikto Docks for an examination to he made of the damage she had sustained. All that was visible was that her stem had been twisted.
