THEFTS FROM THE HARBOUR.

Another theft from the harbour was investigated by Mr. Orme at the Magis tracy, yesterday, when two Chinese cookies were charged with steading two mooring chains from Holt's What, Kowloon. The allyman and watchman gave evidence that they saw the prisoners winding the chains round their waist preparatory to removal. When pursued, "one of the men dropped his chain into the harbour: the other dropped his on a lighter.

Mr. D. J. Lewis, who prosecuted, said two of the four mooring chains at the One wharl had been stolen srewwnly. of the prisoners was susi ted of that theft.

The police mentioned a previous con- viction against this man for theft from the same wharf, and he was sentenced to three months imprisonment and four hours in the stocks. His companion was sentenced to six weeks, imprisonment.
