THE OLD SURUGA"
It will intorcat many shipping men to know that the Old Suruga which formerly traded hera regularly between Now York and China and Japan, has returned on her old run after an absence of four years. During her absence she was running food stuffs between New York and France and was torpedoed in the Mediterranean in 1917, was put ashore at Banto Stephase on the Italian coast, eventually refloated and brought into Genos where she was repaired as cost of three hundred thousand dollars (American) and is now back in her old trade none the worse for her shaking up. The Austrian submarine that got her also sank five out of nine vessels in the same convoy. The Suruga is commanded by Captain, W. H. Walker. On her way down from Shanghai the Surugo passed a large junk in Lat 22.24: N., Long, 115.25 E., in the track of steamers The junk was dis masted about 20ft. above water" and was dangerous to shipping.
