The defendant admitted that the light was dim. but said that he was not aware of it until his attention was called by the police.

A fine of $1 was imposed.

The Chinese chauffeur of Mr. Wong Kem Ying's car No. 133 was charged, at the instance of Lance-Sergeant Dickson of No. a Police Station, with unlawfully passing the left side of a stationary tram ear in Queen Road East, He admitted the charge and was find 35

The driver of motorcar No. 343 belang- ing to the Mercury Garage ploaded guilty to a similar offence and was alsó fined $5.9

Dr. Stuart. Taylor was charged with fail- ing to produce his driver's licence, when asked to do so by a police officer. He was driving car No. 907 when be was stopped."

The defendunt said that the licence was

a little tou big for him to entry in his cont pocket in summer, so he put it in his instrument bag. On the day in question he had just returned home when he was called out on a special case, and rushing down to the ear he drove off, forgetting his licence which was left in the house together with the bug. It was all ab unfortunate mistake.

Inspector Gurrod said, that he would not press the charge in the circumstances, and suid that the reason why he prosecuted was that there were hundreds of Chinese drivers in Hongkong, bad if they were not made to carry their licences with them, there was nothing to prevent unlicensed drivers from taking cars out. The trafic department had had a lot of zronble in this matter, and he believed his worship had had experience of one of these casea", "Some t'me ago.

The Magistrate discharged Dr. "Taylor. with a caution.

Three Chinese, the drivers of motor cars Nos, 251, 375 and 139the property of Mr. Young Hee, Mr. V. Sorby add the Mar cury Garage, respectively-all pleaded guilty" to charges brought against them by Lance-Sergeant Chester Wood of No. 2 Police Station of passing the left side of a stationary tram-car in Chueen's Road East. They were fined $5 each.

When the case against Major Sturgess, R.G.A., who was summoned for driving motor eyele No. 144 along Kennedy. Road, the same being closed to metor traffic, was called, the defendant failed to appear.

Lazce Sergeant Dickson said that the summons had been served on the defend- apt.
