For Heartburn, Acidity, etc.

Some years ago Messrs. Savory & Moore obtained possession of a formula by the celebrated Dr. Jenner for a lozenge possessing TO- markable power to absorb acidity in the stomach. "They.confidently recommend these lozenges, of which they are the sole manufacturers, as a safe and reliable remedy for HEARTBURN, FLATULENCE, ACIDITY, and digestive disorders. One or two lozenges give immediate relief, even in the worst cases, and taken before a meal prevent those distressing symptoms due to indigestion which so frequently follow. Thousands of sufferers testify that they havo derived more benefit from Dr. Jenner's Absorbent Lotenges than from any other remedy. They are pleasant to take and quite harmless. TESTIMONY."

The European War is over, but of international, «economic struggle still remäin. - Japan has hitherto baj her own problems confined within the sphere of the Orient, bus international com- petitions of varying nature have now arisen, and the consequence is the marked increase of her responsibility to the world and the expansion of her national expenditures. This is a point that deserves every atten tion of the people. It is the height of foily, in these circumstanses. to use diplomatie problems for furthering political Struggles.

FAVOURS EVACUATION OF SIBERIA..

Turning to the question of Siberia, the Premier rymarked that, in accordance with the principle under which the expeḍi. tionary force was first dispatched to Siberia, and also in considering local conditions, the Japanese Government has decided to carry out the withdrawal of the troops from Siberia except where, from a consideration of the Empire's defence, the stationing of the troops remains imperatively doresury.

With reference to the question of the Nikolajevsk massacre," continued the Premier, the Japanese forces occupied the north of Saghalien, pending the establish- ment of a legitimate and competent Rus

ian Government.

"As for the Shantung problem, the Japaace Government is prepared to open negotiations with the Chinese Government

if approached by the latter who have, su "far, refused to consider tas Japanese pro- pown).

"Nothing definite dan he said with re gard to the anti-Japanese question in California till the negotiations now in pro- gress are over. The authorities hope and trust, however, that a satisfactory settle- awat will be reached before long in view of the traditional friendly relations between thal two: Powers,"

ARTIST'S MODEL.

Art, drama and near tragedy were mingled in the recent expedition to Take Inabashiro of the artist, Mr. Miromitsu Nakazawa, when one of his apprentices, forgetting that he could not swim, plunged in the waters of the lako to rescue the young girl posing as a model, who had fainted from sun stroke and fallen into the water. And

Mr. Nakazawa, one of the master paintors of the nation, decided to go to Lake Inaba shiro to gain a background, and took kis favourite model and three apprentices with him.

Unfavourable weather delayed them' several days in a hotel, and then three bright days, followed, during which he Bought an inspiration. On the third day, the model, dressed in a bright, summer: kimono, was standing at the water's odgo, when the artic, perceived her and cried out to hold the pose, as that was just the theme be wanted for his work.
