The United States Mail Steamship Cd., uf Kw York -$3,000,000 for the steatis. aki Leviathan, formerly the Germaa sleumship Faterland, for which bids were opened by the United States Shipping Board. This was the only bid received for the Leviathan, and it stipulated that if it were accepted the Shipping Board should loan the company $8,000.000 at 5 per cent interest, under the new shipping law, to he used in putting the reel into com dition, the Government also to furnish of charge a pier for the ship during reco ditioning. Under the terms of the bid the company offered to give the Shipping Bourd $5 per cent of the net earnings of the vessel for ten years or until haul payment for the vessel wns made.
This Leviathan was built in 1914 and hat a gross tonnage of 54,262 tons. Ber speed
is 93.5 knots an hour..

EITEL FREDERICH.'
The only bid received for the parchase of the steamship De Kalb was that of the Americas Ship and Commerce Corporation of New York, which offered $300,000 for the vessel If the bid was accepted, the company sluted, it would put the vessel on the United States-Germad route.
The-De Kalb, formerly the Prin: Eitel | Friedrich, was built in Stettin in 1919, and ia of 3,767 gross tons.
Chairman Benson announced that the Bhipping Buard reserved action on the bids. He gave no intimation when the board would announce its decisión no to acceptance or rejection.
