DR: G. E. MORRISON'S FUNERAL.
A TRIBUTE TO THE FAMOUS CORRESPONDENT.
The funeral of Dr. George Ernest. Morri- san, Political Adviser to the President of the Chinese Republic, and formerly corres pondent of The Times in the Far East, took place at Sidmouth on June 2nd...
The service was conducted by the Vicar of Sidmouth, the Rev. C. K. Woollcombe. in the cemetery chapel, the organist and choir boys of the parish church leading the singing of Psalm 10 and 61, the bynn Blessed are the pure in heart," and pt The the graveside, the Nune Dimittis. Inscription on the coffin was George Ernest Morrison, of Pering aged 54" The foral tributes included a wreath of orchids from the President of the Chinese Republic. In sorrow and gratitude."
At the conclusion of the service, the Rev. CK, Woollcombe paid a tribute to Dr. Morrison life from a religious aspect. He said that Sidmouth offered a resting place to a very great man. Dr. Marrison had an amazing active and vital min and his intellectual interest ranged over the whole world. He was distinguished farther by a recognition of the brother- hood of man to a degree beyond that of nicst me. There was no part of the world upon which he made no claim and which had no claim upon him, In China, where Fay men were held in esteem who were not of their race, he was trusted and esteemed, He for the last right years, an en- of the Charter of the foreign missions as the power for uplifting. and instructing other races, Such a man was worthy of all the honour that could be paid him and would, he believed, be honoured by God,

There have been other interesting visitors to London in the hat few days besides M. Krasain. Herr Merz. the German Food Controller has been here at the head of an official mission to the British Government, The mission has now returned to Germany, but it was in London for several days; and had several conferences with representa tive of the Ministry of Food. For some naexplained reason the visit has been kept secret, and it was arranged that nothing should be published about the results of the consultations between the food experts of the two (jovernments,
