OVERSEAS VISITORS IN

GREAT BRITAIN.

AN INTERNATIONAL HOSPITALITY

LEAGUE

A discussion has been going on in the English Proes with regard to the presanied shortage of accommodation in hotels and boarding-houses for the large indar of overseas visitors expected in England dur ing the present year. This is led to a Conference under the chairmanship of Sir Harry Brittain, M.P. as the House of Commons, of representatives of the British Empire Union, Pilgrims Club, Sul. grave Institute, Royal Colonial Institutes, English Speaking Union, British Empire, League, Middle Classes Uniong, Angle American Society, Red Triangle Hospital- ity League Empire Parliamentary o ciation, Oversons Club, and Patriotic League Southern Crom Information Berea, American, Universities Union, Incorporated Association of Hotels and Rostaurants, Residentia Hotel-Keepers. and Caterers Association

sat such a unique It was pointed out that opportunity for international hospitality | must not be missed if the good feeling aroused by common, effort and common service during the war was to be cemented; and overseas guests spared the wears pilgrimage which has been the fate ut so many visitors when searching for rooms.

:

It was felt that there was no question but that oversens visitors would be able to pay aquately for the hospituity requirin ed, and that any were anxious to come, intent on combining business with pleasure, so that substantial reasong existed to en force the natural desire that "Britain's guests should receive a sitting welcome

As a result of several Conferences, the International Hospitality League was asked to associate themselves with and act for the whole of these bodies in establish ing n Central Bureau to provide necom- modation, either in hotels, boarding-huitses or private homes. for the total number of! visitors from overseas it is possible for the f shipping companies to bring to the Old Country

The steps that have already been taken. and the reception necorded the iden both- by Press and pubile make it possible to announce that there will be no lack of accommodation for any intending visitors to the British Isles that the shipping.com panies are able to carry. There should now be no hesitation on the part of such visitors in booking their passages, and all! reports as so the lack of a sufficient food supply or of accommodation should be ignored.

The Overrets Visitors Burear bas send a large section of the famous! Benver-Hut-in-the-Strand, where in addi tion to a large Information Office, a spaci

i lanage with reading and writing facilities will be provided. for overseas visitors, and where it will be possible to fix up accommodation in nay part of the country and make, arrangements for tours, ete. Lo addition, all the Kiosks and In. formation Bureaux of the Hospitality lenge in London and the provincial cities are being linked up with the Central Boccal and the whole of their resouras j isplaced at the dispeas) of over ons vintern.

privately and landing at Bri- tish port to be met on arrival by repre sentatives of the Bureau, who, will tele graph their requirements to London, so that visitors arriving at the terminal stations will be at once provided with the neconimodation needed and given the neces sary help to reach their destinations. Ali intending visitors should, however, write direct to the Business Manager of the Bureau, giving the name of their ship and the approximate date of arrival together with the accommodation required and any other necessary particulars. In this way delay will be avoided and the best arrange. ments ensured.
