In this eral over special excellence respect they have no equal. Edinburgh Academicals incidentally did Heriots a good tiren by defeating Watsonians one of the sensational, results of the Rugby year. The Championship hung in the balance; but the reverse sustained by Watsonians at Racbarn Placs practically assures the Herioters the great distine tion. They really deserve, this prize of Rugby clubdom, not only for the consist ency of their play, but for the splendid fortitude with which they have faced all their engagements. It was by irresistible. forward play that the Academicals best the Watachians, and a remarkable thing in the game is that while the Academicals crossed the Watsonians line twice the Watsonians failed to penetrate the Acade mical defence.

This year the Champion- ship is won by Marchiston Castle, who deserve their sucs for a good level ex- cellence throughout the season. This is illustrated by their ready disposal of all their opponents other than their direct rivals, Loretto.
