Brielly, it is n volume of Shakespeariana, discovered in a country. house in Shropshire, which is worthy of comparison with the Venus and Adonis volume that just before Christmas was acquired in their rooms by Mr. Huntingdon, of New York-there need be no mystory about the purchaser- for £15,100, a record price at auction for a book And-an added interest-it ABOVE can safely be assumed that the sensational circumstances of the earlier volume's sale directly fad to the discovery of the second.

Thomas Middleton's hitherto unrecorded work makes it that. But there is more in the discovery than meets the inexpert evé. The Passionate ·Pilgrim'; and #Bonnets” is a fragment though frag ment containing a large portion of the work. Its 27 leaves (out of 34) are, more over, made up of two issue, one of which the issue at the Britwell. Court sale, and catalogued the first edition. Bat the other issue from which the piece is matte is one hitherto unknown, mod it contains misprints which in the Britwell “Cours example are corrected. Consequently the daim of the latter to be the first edition is in the words of the Cataloguer of the new bad, rendered doubtful.!!
