A special meeting of the Trades Union Congress assembled this morning to con- sider what action should be taken to come pel the adoption of the nationalisation of mines. Mr. J. H. Thomas presided, and there were present 700 to 800 delegates re presenting over 5,000,000 workers.

On a card vote, the policy of direct nction was rejected by 3,870,000 to 1,050,000 rotes

Subsequently, it was decided, by 3,732,000 votes to 1,015,000, to continue political action.
