a while, two men came in first and then

The defendant then put the revolver back in his coat pocket, and, after tearing Mr. Yuen's trousers to make sure that be could not give chase, he also went away. Covering the rent in his trousers as best he could, Mr. Yuca followed the defendunt. Upon hearing the alarm given, the defen- dant, who was walking a few paces in front of Mr. Yuen, bolted up Battery Path Police Sergeant Hedge and Indian Police Sergeant B184, who were on duty near the tree at the foot of Ice House Street, gave chase. The defendant, who was bare-footed, ran very fast and would have made good his escape had not a Chinese messenger, who was walking down the path, held on to the defendant and delayed him long enough to give the Police time to tom up.
Sergeant Murphy asked for a remand.
The Magistrate fixed the hearing of the caec for next. Thursday.
