K.G.A.--RE, AND LA. MAYCir ABANDONED.,

The R.A. R.F. and LA. match had to be abandoned on Saturday owing to the wet weather, after the latter team, had declared with 171 ans for six wickats.

Both players took advantage of the wet ball and tired the bowlers, gathering 111 runs between them Clan-.. son played some very neat strokes to leg off Davies and sent the ball to the boundary on no less than ten occasions. Wahl secured eight fours and assisted materially in raising the total. Both ware undefeated when the closure was Applied

The magnificcat sante played by the Hawkins. on Saturday made one wonder more than ever why the Flagship's en were not asked to playin First Division football this season. Back and forward alike they have a fine side, and it will be very surprising if they do not go far in the League. That they were unable to score a goal against the Chinese must not discredit them, for it is no exaggeration to say that the Chinese have not played better defensive game this season. Fur- thermore, we are of opinion that the Chinese defence was such that no team in Hongkong would juve beaten them, given the same conditions as prevailed on Satur- day.

END DIVISION ERAGOR KOWLOON, 4; SOUTH CHINA “ A‚” 0.- This match which was played un "the Club"ground prior to the Hawkin match, proved to be a very tare" affair, and too much one-sided to be interesting. Kowloon "played with" their opponents for a while, allowing them to attack but never letting them beyond the back line, which was in the charge of Jackson and Knight. Muskett made his rappeurante in the Kowloon goal, whilst Hyder played in night's place, and proved to be quite at home in the inside left position. After" " a while, Kowloon began to go dut goal getting, and although they at first, found" some obstacle put in their way by the Chinese all falling back to detend their gaol, Kowloon soon wore their opponents down, and then scoring was easy, and notched their first goal. STAFFS DEFEAT CRAIGENGOWER.

Craigengower were their match against the Staffs and De partments as they missed two prominent players, Lammert and Abbas. They lost the match by three wickets and 29 runa. Craigengower fared none too well, the only batsman to secure double figures: being Basi, who was not out with 59. Basa, as usual, played a steady, innings and practically carried the side on his shoulders, He opened the inaings and stay- ed into the end. The others were only able to compile 3 runs between them. Connor was in good form with the ball and secured six wickets for 35 runs.

The Staffs commenced disastrously, but, improving subsequently, managed to pass their opponents' score for the loss of the seventh wicket. Col. Coles, who opened the innings for his side carried out his bat for a prettily compiled 50 runs. He hit with sound judgment and never gave a schance. Scores:-

The game emphasised the fact that. next year there must be three divisions, with teams like the Navy Reserves, Staffs, Kowloon, the Wilts and the R.G.A. play- ing in a distinct division from such teams us St. Joseph's Reserves, the Chinese, United F.C., the IRC. and the Club de Hecreio, It is manifestly not fair to

there. When the match is re-played, as The Staffs found the going easy against it will have to be, the Chinese should put the Chinese B " Kwck Po Kun into the forward line.

The Naval team are probably heavier than

any team taking part in the Com: petition. The forwards were, on Satur day, more conspicuous than the defence. Bonham Carter, at centre, showed himself a splendid man in that position. He has the correct knack of feeding his fellows. Stewart and Harris, the insides, just spared themselves nothing in their efforts to carve through the Chinese defence, The two outsides must learn to swing the ball in towards the goal with greater promptitude. The Chinese halves were so active that both Webb and Cunliffe were beaten time after tinte. They should centre as soon as they get the ball,

Of the actence, Wilkins was the stand He worked unsparingly all through, hie weight helping him a lot. His fellow halves made few mistakes, Humphreys and Edwards at back cleared everything that came their way. Both are clean, bard kicks, who never lose their head. La the first half, the Staffs scored four goals, Wood getting the first, Townsend obtaining two in succession, and Estorffe a new and clever left outside, being responsible for the fourth. The Chinese made occasional rushes towards the Staff goal, but were unable to get much past the halves. In the second half, the Staff swarmed round the Chinese goal most of the time, but did not take matters very seriously or they should have scored more than the one additional goal, for which Townsend was responsible.

The gume opened fast with the sailors half, Townsend, Copeland, Retorio and setting a terrine pace, and soon it Sherriff were all prominent los hard becaine evident to all present that despite work,
