He points out that the methods of agriculture and cattle-breeding in China are so primitive that production might he increased renfold by scientific methods whereby not only would the prosperity of the Chinese themselves be increased, but large quantities of foodstuffs would become available for export.

He instances the slight importance of meat production and scantinces of the
