ITS CAUSE AND CURE."

This distressing complaint so common in all hot countries is caused by the Bile overflowing in the Blood. It is not an in- dependent disorder but the symptoms of other complaints which. cause the Bile to overflow in this manner instead of entering the intestines, to perform its mission of aiding in the digestion and assimilation of food. Jaundice causes the skin and eyes, to become yellow, and vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, or constipation, loss of appetite. bad taste in the mouth, flatulence, belch- ing and pains in the stomach may all be accompanying symptoms. The disordered condition of the Liver is the most common cause of this complaint and a remedy that will reach the Liver is the only effective one. Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills reach the Liver as no other remedy Unable to cut or sicep.

docs, speedily causing the Bile to flow through its proper channel.. They get at the cause of the complaint driving the poison out of the blood, and toning the entire system. There is no more effective remedy for this complaint, as a trial will prove, than Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills which are a positive and permanent cure for all Liver and Kidney dis- orders, Constipation, Biliousness, Impure Blood, and Female Ailments.

SERVICE TO GERMANY.

Both the Nippen Yusen 'Kaisha and tha Osaka Shosen Kaisha are making arrange ments to open shipping services to Gari many. The project of the Nippon Yusen Kaisha was first brought forward before the war and was revived immediately after the conclusion of the armistice. As

Erst step inaugurating the German ser- vice, the Nippon Yasen "Kaisha contemn- plates sending its vessels on the Earupean run to Hamburg, and the company is] arranging to realize the project as soon as perica is restored.

With regard to this project Mr. Yona jiro Ito, managing director of the Ninpon Yusen Kaisha, says

"I think it will be no easy task for the terman companies to regain the position they lost during the war, and this seems to be the best opportunity for extending the activity of Japanes merchantmen In order to facilitate this task the Nippon Yasen Kaisha and the unka Shosen Kaisha intend to enter into a special agreement by which the two companies will alternately maintain a fortnightly service. When they Osaka Shosen Kaisha Inaugurated a European service in Sep- tember last year, it was clear that the company aimed at extending the lig from London to Hamburg at a favourable uppurtunity, which has now arrived.

THE NEW PLANS

I The Nippon Yusen Kaisha has mother; important project in hand. It is the con. struction of a certain number of passen- | ger steamers of about 20.000 tons cach.

During the way we built or bought some cargo boats, but no addition was made to the feet of passenger.boats. We have hitherto had no steamers of the best class for the accommodation of passen- Kers, When

travels by our traders we nee, therefore, compelled to offer the master's valin for his accommodation. The XY.E. boats accommodating passengers are the Katzei Mare and the Kushiina Marny each of which is of 9,000 tons, but these boats cannot hold a candle to the passenger steamers of the Hamburg-Amerika Lino, sume of which have 50.000 tong capacity We do not intend to build any such mam- moths, but we wish to make our new boats as ideal as possible in regard to speed and eunfpment. Whether the new stramers will be use on the European or the American run will depend upon the con- ditions of the shipping situation t particular moments.

EUHO OF A RECENT HONG KONG CASE.

Says the F.-C. Daily News:-

Latest papers from Hongkong give the details of an important case in which an alicer of the police force there was charg rd with a serious erime in relation to a Chinese girl. The case was of interest or cunt of the attitude taxen by thr magistrats in the preliminary hearings. when, at the very commencement, he ruled that the Press should bot be admitted to the court. That mutter was taken up by the Hongkong Daily Press, which, in a most able review of the whole matter, em- phasized the right of the Press to watch inch cases, not so much for the purpopes of publication as to represent the public which has 'right to k 1.
