BILLIARDS.

The competition for the Garrison Billiard Challenge Cup was completed on Thursday night at the Soldiora Club, when the Staff and Departments defeated the Manchester Regiment in the final. The first teams to go under were the Royal Engineers and the B.A.M.G., who were defented by the 88th Co. R.G.A. and Tho the 83rd Co. .G.A. respectively, 87th Co. R.G.A. were defensed by the Maachster Regiment and the 88th Co. Sargeant Mesa by the Staff and Depart nents In the next round the Man- heaters disposed of the 88th Co. R.GA., and the Staff and Departments got into the final at the expense of the 83rd Co. In consequence of defeating the 88th Co. so easily, the Mabebesters were generally expected to win the tournainent, and it came a considerable surprise to many when the Staff and Departments finally Goodman, who has won by 40 points. been playing a lot of billiards lately, was expected to win his gave by a consider able margin, but finished only 10 points ahead of Sainsbury, who put up à our prisingly good show against his skilful opponent. Sherriff, who won his game by nearly 100 points, had a large share in the success of his team, although it must be admitted that his opponent was very much below form, on the night that ho played Sherratt and Stanley also registered creditable wine, and the team, on the whole, was a very well balanced The best breaks were 29 oach by Keenan, side.. Sainsbury and Goodman, 27 by 30 by Bird, 19 by Goode, 25 by Stone,

If the Navy and Club had not been playing in the Shield competition they would have been struggling for supre macy in the Hongkong League. This match will now be postponed to a later Points for race l'oints to date date, and the result of to-day's game should be a good indication as to who will win the League. The Navy are in game, such a favourable position at present that it is quite possible they may win. the Shield, the Hongkong League, and the United Services League, which would be a wonderful record in local football.
