THEFT OF TROUSERS.

At the Magistracy, yesterday, a Chin- ese was charged with stealing two paira of trousers.

Inspector Kent stated that defendant went into an empty house in Tin Po lane and, leaning through a window, stole the articles.

Defendant said he pawned the clothes for a few ten-cent pieces which he wanted to send to his country.

Defendant had a previous conviction against him for a similar offence and waa sentenced by Mr. Wood to six week hard labour.
