WAR GRAVES.

THE COMMISSION'S DECISIONS.

LONDON, January 8th. At a meeting of the Imperial War Graves' Commission at which Mr. Walter Long presided, and all the British and Overseny representatives were present, the Chairman stated that all the Overseas Governments unreservedly agreed to bear

a share of whatever expense is involved in worthily honouring the memory of their

dead.

The Commission was, therefore, free to discharge the task in an unfgrudging and unniggardly apirit.

The Commission had adopted the recom- mendation that the most suitable method of honouring those whose graves were pot found and not identified would be to place a tablet appropriately inscribed in the cenietery near the spot where he was be lieved to have been killed.

It is estimated that there will be at Icast 1,000 cemeteries,

The Commission has decided to ask the Indian Government to formulate pro- posals for the establishment of an agency in India for the care of the British war graves there.

The Commission warmly thanked the Union of South Africa Government for their most generous offer to meet the entire cost. of the maintenance of the cemeteries and the provision of memorials to officers and men of the Imperial Forces

who died within the Union.

CRICKET NOTES.

It is necessary that I should refer briefly to the two letters written by Ganner May and by Lieut. Coltman, of CONTRIBUTED.]

It would afforded by the healthy rivalry exhibited have been in better taste if Gunner May had refrained from personalities. It may when Kowloon met Craigengower at Happy Valley last week-end. To deal first with the late start of the game. if, 85 "Cricketer Buys, Craigengower was not ready to commence at 2.15 pm then Kowloon has the right, on the strict letter of the rules, to claim a win. But whether the League Committee will sup- port such a contention, in view of the

fact that punetaal starts have been the exception, rather than the rule, is another question. I think I am fairly safe in saying that not more than three League

matches this senson have been started

punctually. In these circumstances, Kow. loon will be well advised, in view of the

rivalry between them and Craigengower for this year's honours, not in claim last week's match as a win.

As regards the complaint that certain Craigengower supporters, in the exube

rance of their spirits, distracted the field era by continuous cheering and shouting when the Craigengower men were batting, I think "Cricketer' has lost sight of the other side of the story. should have upset the batsmen rather Barely the noise
