This game was played on the Club ground previous to the first division match, and, owing to the late arrival of some of the players, had to be limited to twenty minutes each way. The Civilians played in green and the Services in white. There was nothing very startling in the first half, the play being scrappy throughout. Several open goals were missed on both sides, Ellarby, for the Services, failing to score on one occision when the opposing custodian was not in position. No score was registered before the interval. The second half was on improvement on the first, cach side com bining better, but the shooting was still weak. McManus for the greens WALL the only one to shine in this direction, scoring the first goal of the match with nice, low shot into the right hand corner of the net. The same player also soon added the second goal, receiving the ball from a corner kick and netting in workmanlike style.
