CANTON BRITISH RED CROSS.
"OUR DAY.”
A successful Garden fits was held on abe Bports ground, Shamein, on the afternoon and evening of "Our Day," October 24th, as the result of which over £3,000 was raised for the funds of the British Red Cross. At a similar fête, held in 1015, £300 was raised; in 1918, the proceeds were increased to £750; and again last year to £1,435 That the sum should have more than doubled it- self this year is a tribute to the organis ing skill and unremitting energy of the President of the "Our Day" Com mittee, Mr. O. W. Darch, and to the hard work of all concerned.
Our troops are in enthusiastic pursuit and are intensely shelling the enemy,
Our Cavalry Divisions re-established the crossings of the Livenza and are marching towards Tagliamento.
The Sixth Army is attacking -its... ad,
The ladies in charge of the stalls gave much time and thought to making these attractive, and the largo taking prove how successful their efforts were. The side-shows were run with enthusiasm and originality, and provided varied enter- tainment for large crowds of Chinese who, by judicious advertising, had been drawn to the fête. The proceedings were enlivened by a piper, who came from Hongkong for the occasion, and by the band of the French Mission School.
Grateful thanks are due to those who' generously put, their time and their talents at the disposal of the Committee, and to all who opened wide their purses and gave freely to the cause of the Red Cross
