Steamers on this line bare a Bhanghai, limited amount of passenger accommodation, and through tickets can be obtained for Northern and Yangtze Porta via Shanghai Through Bills of Lading are issued to all Northern and Yangiate Ports.

MANILA LINEA weekly service is maintained with Manila by vessels with good

passenger accommodation, salings from both ports every Friday.

HAIPHONG LINE--Eailings approximately weekly for passengers and cargo, calling

at Hollow when inducement offers.

BORNEO LINE-One walling per month between Hongkong and Sandakan by a

steamer having up-to-date sccommodation for passengers.

The object of the code is to give at least. 24 hours' warning of a gale (Force 6 by Beaufort Bcale, or 40-45 m.p.h., "mean velocity by Dines Anemometer) and also warnings" of expected changes in the direction and force of the wind. Owing, A however, to the uncertain movements of typhoons, and to insufficient telegraphic obsarrations, it will occasionally happen. that signals 9 to 5 may he displayed without a gala occurring at Hongkong, or even Gap, Bock, but the reverse is not likely to happen, except in the case of
