When the old man arrived at the Polien Station his fingris and mouth were bleed- ing. On information which the old man gave
the first defendant was arrested on the Canton steamer. The Brst defendant split" on the second defendant, and was instrumental, also, in having the third man arrested. As an identification parade beld on Sanday turning, the first defendant was immediately recognised by the old man as having followed close behind him on the night he was attacked. He could not say actually who attacked him, because he did not get na oppertun ity of seeing his assailants.
It was further alleged that the Erst defendant had tricked his partners in connection with the robbery. He is said to have met them by appointment half an-hour after the robbery and told them that the belt contained only 29. Of this suni ho gave 84 to the second defendant, and to the third defendant. On the morning after his arrest the first defer dant took the Police to the place where he had hidden the belt after he had taken but the money.
The Magistratë remarked that the evi dence against the third defendant was not very strong. It was strong enough, how- ever, to keep the man in custody till the next hearing, which was fixed, for Mon. day next.
