[FROM THE CANTON INTELLIGENCE BUREAU.] Dr. Sun Yat-sen, Generalissimo of the Military Government of the Republic of China, tendered his resignation to the National Assembly in Extraordinary Session on May 4th. His letter to the leaders of the South-West roughly trans lated, reads as follows:

MR. JAMES JOHNSON: It is with very deep regret, says the

The late Mr. Johnston was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on April 8th, 1941. After serving his apprenticeship as an engineer, he went out to Australia 58 engineer on a steamer in 1865 and after running for some time on the Australian coast, he left for Shanghai as a passenger. January, 1867. On his arrival in Shang- on a sailing vessel and arrived hero in
