UNION OF TWO WELL-KNOWN LOCAL CHINESE FAMILIES.
LO-HO TUNG.
The marriage took place, yesterday morning, at the Hongkong Registrar's office of Miss Victoria Ho Tung, eldest daughter of Sir Robert and Lady Ho Tung, and Mr. M. K. La solicitor, eldest son of Mr. Lo Cheung Shid, compradore to Messrs. Jardine, Matheson &Go, and of Mr. Shin. The bride was conducted to the Registrar's office by her father, and was attended by the Mieses Jean and Grace Ho Tung (sisters), while Miss Irene Ho Tung acted as Maid of Honour. After the ceremony the bridal parly repaired to Nettlewood Robin son Road, the residence of the bride groom's parents, where a reception for Chinese was held.
In the afternoon another reception, was held at Idlewild Beymour Road, the residence of Sir Robert and Lady Ho Tung, which was gaily decorated for the occasion. The esteem in which Sir Robert Ho Tung is held by all sections of the community--European as well as Chinese was amply testified to by the attend ance which included E. the Governor and Miss Iris May, many of the members of the Excentive and Legislative Coun- cils Sir Charles Elliott (Vice-Chancellor of the University), Lt. Col. J. Ward, M.P., C.M.G., Bishop Pozzoni, Mrs, and Miss Lander, and other well-known re sidents.

The toast of the bride and bridegroom. was proposed by H.E. the Governor, who said It is my pleasure, this afternoon, tu ask you to drink to the health of the bride and bridegroom. I am most pleased and proud to do this service to my old friend, Sir Robert Ho Tang. He and I have worked a good deal together, and he hay rendered many eminent services to the Government of this Colony. There is ample evidence of the appreciation in Eagland of the good work he has donn by the honour which he received in being created a Knight. Apart from personal render him a treasons, it is a pleasure
service because. I, too, am a Knight, and if Sir Robert and I should be transported back to the Middle Ages, and were clad in armour and riding our fiery chargers, Dr. and Mrs. G. E.
Aubrey I would ride to Sir Robert's assistance and belp him against any enemics and Sir, Bobert, I am sure, would do the like Mr and by me. (Laughter.) Then, there is Lady Ho Tung, with whom I have had a long cquaintance and long friendship. Next there is the bride. You have only to look at her to envy the bridegroom (Laugh ter.) I have seen her grow up here in our midst, and I am proud of her as a product of Hongkong. (Hear, hear.) She is not only good to look upon, but she is also very accomplished, and if any of you wish to test her fluency in either Mr and Mrs. H. WAN the English or French languages you are at liberty to do so. (Laughter.) I
