HONGKONG MAGISTRACY. ALLEGED THEFT FROM THE CHINA LIGHT AND POWER CO.

A marino hawker was charged with stealing a quantity of steel armour wire, the property of the Chin Light and Power Co., Kowloon,

Del-Sergt. Fallon stated that the de- fendant was arrested on the 30th ultimo with the wire in his possession. Defend ant stated that he picked up the stuff at Mongkoktani.

The case was adjourned.

POOR AND LONELY IN HIS OLD AGE.

A bearded old Chinese was charged. with hawking without a lience.

Defondant stated that he was very poor and had nebody to support him in his ld age, his sons having all emigrated to different parts of the world.

Questioned as to his stock-in-trade, he said he sold lizards at a few tents each. They were used as a cure for coughs.
