HONGKONG'S STORM SIGNALS
New signals
A NEW CODE.
and non-local storms codes will be introduced
at Hongkong on July 1st, in place of ths old Local Code and the China Coast Code.
The principal change in the Local Code is that the new signals will show she direction from which the gale is expected, whereas the 'old signals showed the pori- tion of the typhoon. The latter will be indicated, sa beretofore, by the non-local signals. The new Local Code is given below:
DAY SIGNALS.
Meaning. Signal, Symbol. 1.-ed one-A typhoon exists which
may possibly cause gais at Hongkong with. in 24 hours.
Black co-Gals expected from the
North (N.W. to N.E.). -Black cone
inverted.--Gale expected from the
