FIRE AT YAUMATI CJAL YARD
Soon after & p.m. on Wednesday, the Yaumati fire brigade received a call to Messrs. Dodwell & Cos. coal-yard at Yaumsti, where a large stack of coal was found to be in fames. The coal burned for two hours, when the brigade, with the assistance of the firefloat, and a Standard Oil launch, which rendered much valuable help, were able to extinguish the flanes. It appears that the fire was caused by a spar from an adjoining matsbed set- ting fire to the matabed, and the flames from the matabed quickly spread to the coal stack, which soon became involved.
