THE BAWLEY COMPANY.. TWIN BEDS.
The Frawley Company, who during their short stay in Hongkong have fully maintained the high reputation with which they came to the Colony, scored. another success last evening with the presentation of Twin Beds," a farce which is full of trouble for the prin- cipals and lift of laughs for the audience.
All the trouble
starts when Mrs. Hawkins becomes, infatuated with an Italian tenor--Signor Monti-who IS always warbling an aria fram something. or another. The Signora Monti, suspi cicus of her husband's attentions to the other woman, moves "bur, tenor off to an- other apartment and for some reason Mr.. Hawkina gets the same idea and also
toves to the same apartment,
Twin beds are a new feature in the Hawkins' domestic economy, and the laughs. begui when Signor Monti comes home towards morning and accidentally wanders into the lawkins'partment, where Mr, laskine is slumbering peacefully, and crawls into the other twin bed. Further complien 11tions arise when another gentleman who is on the lookout for burglars goes into the same flat and is caught and gagged by the English maid. In the end it gives Mrs. Hawkins a great deal of trouble to explain how the two men got into her Toom while her husband was at the club that night. But it ends peacefully with the earnest resolve of the Hawkinses to. do away with twin beds in the future...
The play is full of amusing incidents, and fast crening it kept the urge audience laughing from start to finish. I will be given again this evening.

Annamite troops, the "little brown men" of France's eulonies in Indo- China, have just had their baptism of firs on this Western front. They are the smallest men fighting, but they have ac quitted themselves in a manner that gives them rank with the troops of greater physical endownient. The Annamite battalions are composed entirely of yolun toure, and although they are now in the fighting line for the first time, they have been in France for a little over a year. What they lack in physical size they more than make up in spirit. Almost without exception they are students from the French schools, colleges, and univer sities in Indo-China, where the call for volunteers carty in 1916 almost depleted. the French educational institutions.
Although a people of very rigid social classes, the Annamites accepted the demo- eratic life of the French Army.
