THE STORM.

Following upon the thunderstorm which struck the Colony on Friday evoning, Hongkong was visited by a atcond thunderstorm of much greater "everity during the early hours of Sunday morning. The lightning was extremely vivid, there were many very benvy crashes of thunder; the rain came down in sheets, and there were some

heavy squalls. The extent of the rainfall may be judged from the following figures which have been supplied by the Royal Observatory:From 8 pm, on Saturday to 10 s. on Sunday 14 inches of rain had fallen and between 10 am. and 4.30 am. on Sunday 521 inches of rain fell.

There were no accidents, and enquiries made go to show that he rumours of thunderbolts having fallen locally are without foundation.
