SIR-If rumour is any guide, the num-
ber of men who have volunteered for ser- vioc, and who wish their cases to he investigated by the Commission is daily increasing. This is as it should be There must be many individuals, who,
by reason of peculiar circumstances, aro in doubt as to the utility of sending in their applications.
There are, for instance:-
1.The man who feels or has been told that he is indispensable to tho conduct of his particular business.

As a people we are prone to view its early manifestations with indifference, and then, when they assume more serious proportions, to regard them with impati.
Might we not profitably show an little more foresight and do something to impart to the young; whose education we have undertaken in our various Depen- dencies, some idea of the great and bene ficent changes that have been wrought would under British administration. It certainly serve a better purpose than bur dening their minds with hazy notions of the Wars of the Roses and similar useless stuff that now goes to make up a bistory lesson Why should we be content to leave them an easy prey to the first sedi- tion-monger who comes along to poison their minds with tales of our rapacity 1 I is ohledly, if not entirely, amongst the younger generation whom we have educat ed in Higher-grade schools and Colleges that disaffection is found, and it requires no great powers of perspicacity to dis cover the reason for this. They have the restless ambition of youth without the steadying experience of age. The evils that flourished like rank weeds, in the days of their forefathers have been swent away into the limbo of things for gotten, and the advantages, which the present generation enjoy are accepted as a matter of course, just as we accept the

In my opinion, the best answers to ese are as follow
1. You should send in your name, be cause by so doing you will not only assist the Commission, but you will pre- vent the slacker from pointing you out as an example to be followed.
2. You should send in your nume, be cause the reasons which apply to case No. 1 apply to you with much greater force.
