ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
The surprise of the week was the vic tory of the Navy over the B.GA, in the U. 8. League last Saturday. The gun: nera were on top and had not lost a match in this league, and, as the Navy had not won a match this season, a one- sided game in favour of the soldiers was expected. The sailors, however, ran out comfortable winners by two goals to nič.
The Navy have had to go a long time before obtaining their first win. No-one will grudge them their success, and it is to be hoped that their long spell of had fuck is now finished.
They oppose the Shropshires to-day in the Hongkong League, while the Engineers meet the E.G.A. in the sante league!
The last two teams have twice met this seasou and a goalless draw has been the result in each case. Their meeting to! day on the Club Ground should provide
very interesting game.
In the second division, the Kowloon meet the South China Athletic nad, although the former is a greatly improv ed team, they can hardly expect to avert defeat from the clever Chinese team. The "D" Company meet the Lusitano, and a victory for the former will once: again enable them to dislodge their regimental rivals, who are at the head of the table.
The 88th Coy. R.G.A. is another team that has vastly improved since the be ginning of the season. snd should ma age a win over the R.E.. (Res.), whom they moet to-day, without very much difficulty. If they can ihanage to obtain a couple of points in this match, they will be well in the running for cham pionship honours, ticing the "A" Com- pany, who are at present on top.
