CLUB AND UNIVERSITY DRAW.
When stumps were drawn in the Club University match on the Club Ground on Saturday, the Club were 32 runs, in arrears, and there were four wickets to fall, leaving the probable result a very upen one, for just then Pearce and Lieut. Col. Morgan were making a much-neederl stand, and Pearce was opening his shoulders to good effect. Before this pair came together the Club had made a mest indifferent show, and, taking in all, luck favoured them in the draw. The University, though only able to compile 126 runs, batted fairly consistently The against the mixed Club bowling, wicket was a good one, and more runs. should have ken made by both aides. White looked a likely scorer, but was ruled off- side, and a few minutes afterwards was offside again right in the goal mouth. White always kept well un, and was generaly on the verge of offside, and some of the Artillery forwards would have done well to follow his erample, instead of allowing the Engineer backs so much leisure for their kicks. White headed a centro from Millard towards goal, but Garrod was there all right, and had no difficulty in saving. A mis- take by one of the R.E. defenders let Saunders in; but he shot over. From the goal kick the R.E. dashed to the other end, and the R.A custodian was twice called upon to save good shots. Talfourd was doing splendid work at this time for the RA, frequently breaking up dan- tous movements of the opposing inside men. The R. A broke away, and some work by Halls looked promising, but the effort fizzled out. Dickenson then caine again into prominence, robbing Bott cleverly when that player was almost in the goal month with only Garrod to beat.
